Montague is the largest city in King’s County – the eastern side of Prince Edward Island.
Ideally located across the Montague River, the city is the site of Montague Consolidated School, Montague Intermediate School, and Montague Regional High School.
In 2018, Montague joined with the town of Georgetown, plus five nearby rural municipalities – Brudenell, Cardigan, Lorne Valley, and Lower Montague.
The city is the sports lover’s dream and boasts many great sporting amenities, including running tracks, recreational trails, parks, and playing fields for soccer, rugby, football, field hockey, softball and baseball. In addition, there is a swimming pool and fitness complex. There is also a curling team.
Its business core supports two supermarkets, hardware and home improvement stores, a downtown retail centre, major fast food restaurants, banks, and car dealerships.
Montague is also the site of the King’s County Memorial Hospital and some provincial government offices, including the local medical system and the Department of Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Rural Development.
