PEI Recreational properties comes in a few types. Firstly, we have cottages and cottage lot developments. These range in size and complexity. Some have amenities such as clubhouses, swimmingpools, golf courses etc. and some are on the waterfront or near waterfront. What extras you enjoy will be a determining factor in the price that you pay. Generally these developments are what is called three season. This means that they do not plow in the winter and it would not be practical to try to live there year round.
The second type of PEI recreational property for sale is the standalone cottage or summer house on its own property. These will have their own services and will often be located on roads that are plowed in the winter and therefore are candidates for year round living. Once again these may be waterfront or not and this will greatly influence the price as well. The location and the access will be contributing factors in the pricing as well.
Generally the defining factor that determines if a property is recreational is its year round access. Recreational properties are usually accessible 3 seasons.
